Production Shift Team Leader

We are seeking a Production Shift Team Leader for Refinery C/D, Refinery F/SPU, and CSU at our Keokuk, IA facility.
About the role
Supervise a bargaining unit shift in a Good Manufacturing Practice food-grade operation, ensuring safe actions, environmental compliance, and quality production.
Responsibilities
- Lead shift production activities to ensure safe, compliant, and quality work while achieving scheduled production.
- Implement or support projects and programs to improve safety, compliance, and quality performance.
- Provide clear, consistent communication during shift operations and technical troubleshooting as needed.
- Plan within and across departments to maximize efficiency, including participation in maintenance planning.
- Coordinate production to align with customer needs, ensuring orders are produced and shipped correctly the first time.
- Achieve targeted production efficiencies, yields, volumes, and material usage.
- Execute improvement projects for reliability, yield, rates, and cost reduction.
- Foster innovation through collaboration with employees, team leaders, engineers, and other departments.
- Implement and maintain process controls via computer-controlled systems and operators.
- Direct, train, and monitor on-shift employees on policies, procedures, and compliance.
- Conduct regular shift meetings to communicate, listen, and address concerns.
- Manage and communicate Key Performance Indicators for the production area.
- Develop production employees through training, coaching, evaluation, and performance reviews.
- Ensure adherence to established policies, procedures, programs, and the bargaining unit contract.
Requirements
- BS degree or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years’ experience in a food and/or chemical continuous processing plant (or as an engineering new graduate).
- 1-3 years’ leadership and/or supervisory experience (3-5 years preferred).
- Previous experience in a chemical processing or sugar processing plant preferred.
- Demonstrated sound, assertive, and positive leadership skills, with strong coaching abilities.
- Clear, informative, and persuasive communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).
- Experience in project execution (project management experience preferred).
- Effective organizational and planning skills with the ability to multitask.
- Working understanding of chemical unit operations in food-grade processes desired.
- Understanding of food-grade processing theory and mechanical aptitude with process equipment preferred.
- Fundamental understanding of mechanical equipment and troubleshooting skills.
- Computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs, and using hands/fingers to handle or feel.
- Reaching with hands and arms.
- Working in hot, cold, and loud environments.
- Ability to speak or hear as required by the role.
Pay
The salary range for this role is $82,000–$120,000, with eligibility for performance-based incentive compensation. Specific compensation will be influenced by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Schedule
Full-time position with flexible hours and days to meet facility demands.
