About the Role

Dessert Holdings is seeking a Production Shift Manager (2nd Shift) based in Aurora, CO. This role reports to the Assistant Plant Manager and is responsible for leading an assigned production shift, working closely with production supervisors to maximize production effectiveness, achieve company KPIs, and drive continuous improvement. The focus is on achieving zero accidents, zero quality defects, and zero unplanned controllable downtime while developing a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

  • Coach, counsel, mentor, and provide developmental opportunities to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities of first-level supervisors and team members.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's safety programs and standards, fostering an engaged safety culture.
  • Motivate, direct, hire, coach, and develop a diverse, high-performing team to meet established goals and build organizational capability.
  • Translate plant goals and objectives across all levels of the organization, ensuring alignment on relevant performance data.
  • Recognize potential production schedule problems and initiate measures to eliminate or reduce their impact.
  • Define and implement short-, medium-, and long-term actions to improve safety, operating efficiency, quality, and productivity throughout the value chain.
  • Achieve key performance indicators and drive improvements in on-time delivery, productivity, project management, quality, safety, and other key process areas.
  • Ensure the team is fully cross-trained and lead direct reports to achieve goals and deliverables.
  • Promote and enable professional and technical development of staff.
  • Assess supervisor job performance and provide open feedback.
  • Leverage continuous improvement tools to eliminate loss, optimize processes, and improve reliability.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of leadership experience in a related industry, with experience managing other professional positions.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing leadership with process-oriented operations.
  • High school diploma required; degree in a technical, engineering, or relevant field is an advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience with Lean Manufacturing implementation and/or Six Sigma training/certifications (working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement tools is heavily preferred).
  • Proficient in email, report writing, and creating effective MS Excel spreadsheets.
  • Working understanding of Quality Management Systems.
  • Working understanding of Occupational Health & Safety standards and best practices.
  • Proven leadership expertise through previous production management experience with both people management and resource allocation.

Physical Requirements

  • Stooping, kneeling, or bending.
  • Sitting and standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to speak and hear.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.

Pay

The typical hiring range for this role is $90,000 to $110,000 annually, based on factors such as education, work experience, skills, certifications, and location.
