Lead a dynamic team in creating high-quality LEGO® elements while driving innovation and excellence in a state-of-the-art injection molding manufacturing environment.

About the role

This position will start with a general administrative shift (8 AM to 4 PM) until the manufacturing site completes the ramp-up stage. Afterwards, it will transition to leading the 2nd shift schedule, which will be a 12-hour, 2-2-3 schedule.

The Injection Molding Operations department at LEGO Manufacturing Virginia is a pivotal part of the production process, responsible for crafting the iconic LEGO® elements that inspire creativity worldwide. This department integrates cutting-edge technology and innovative practices to ensure the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and safety. By fostering collaboration across various functions such as Engineering, Automation, and Quality, the team drives operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily injection molding operations to ensure safe, stable, and efficient production performance.
  • Drive production performance through data-driven decision making and operational excellence.
  • Coordinate activities across teams including Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Automation, and Quality.
  • Oversee mold setup and changeovers to align with production schedules and capacity requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture by ensuring compliance with LEGO safety requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and lead a high-performing team fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance production flow and manufacturing efficiency.

Requirements

  • A degree or technical training in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or Automation is desired.
  • Experience in manufacturing operations, preferably within injection molding or highly automated environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Strong understanding of injection molding processes, mold setup, process validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven success in driving operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with highly automated manufacturing systems, including robotics and digital platforms.
  • Ability to lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety, quality, and compliance.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and quality management systems like ISO 9001.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance coordination and equipment reliability strategies.
  • Background in plastics technology or related fields.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify production trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration with engineering and automation teams.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business demands and operational conditions.
  • Proficiency in digital manufacturing systems and data-driven decision-making.
  • Innovative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement initiatives.

Additional Information

  • This position is for the 2nd shift.
  • International travel will be required.
  • No relocation is available.

Pay

The salary for this position has a range of $84,674.00 - $127,010.00 based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints.
