About the role
Edare is seeking a Production and Service Engineer to build and support our metrology products, initially focusing on the Fastener Measurement Tool (FMT) and related solutions. The FMT, developed for F-35 fastener inspection, is a key technology identified by the U.S. Department of Defense to meet F-35 production rate goals. Now in its 3rd generation, the FMT is expanding into new military and commercial markets. This role may involve diverse business areas and can be tailored to the right candidate, offering opportunities to contribute to cutting-edge product development and early-stage production efforts.
Responsibilities
- Production:
- Support production hands-on, guide assemblers, inspect work, and perform assembly tasks as needed.
- Contribute to mechanical, electrical, and software design and configuration control.
- Manage the production area, including physical inventory, tooling, facility setup, and maintenance of production assets.
- Repairs/Support/Field Support:
- Lead product repairs, troubleshoot issues, and ensure device configuration matches customer specifications.
- Travel independently for field service calls with remote support from the Edare engineering team.
- Interface with customers and represent the FMT/Edare brands professionally.
- Secondary Responsibilities:
- Apply mechanical engineering/technician skills to design and build simple fixtures or assembly aids.
- Provide sales support at customer locations and tradeshows.
Requirements
- BS in Engineering Science or Technology, Physics, or Computer Science with 2+ years of post-degree experience in production of highly engineered products, customer support, field service, or production management (or equivalent industry experience).
- Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, metrology, or laser/optical systems is a plus.
- Understanding of electromechanical systems running complex software.
- Hands-on capability with mechanical tools for field service, repairs, and troubleshooting.
- Strong software skills, including Python, familiarity with SolidWorks, CAM, FEA, and version control (e.g., Git).
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to explain complex product concepts and designs to clients.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Pay
Starting salary range of $80,000 - $100,000 per year, with base salary varying based on experience and skill level.
