About the Role

You will work as a valued member of the XL Specialized Trailers manufacturing team, supporting the Director of Operations and Production Manager. The role involves supervising staff, organizing and monitoring workflow, acting as a quality inspector, safety coordinator, material handler, and trainer for your area of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Spend 50% of time in direct labor within your area of responsibility.
  • Accomplish manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job performance, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain staff through recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees while developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring process steps, setting processing variables, observing control points and equipment, and facilitating corrections to malfunctions.
  • Complete production plans by scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, and resolving problems.
  • Identify and address safety and health concerns by surveying environmental, operational, and occupational conditions.
  • Act as a quality inspector to maintain service quality by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Ensure all direct and indirect materials are readily available for production team members.
  • Support training by selecting, orienting, and developing personal growth opportunities for team members.
  • Provide manufacturing information by compiling, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and wearing proper personal protective equipment.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects such as lean, 5-S, and Kaizen.
  • Perform other tasks assigned to support and improve overall operations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, or Industrial Engineering; Industrial Technology: Supply Chain; or a related field.
  • Three years of manufacturing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and generate results through others.
  • Problem analysis and resolution skills at a functional level.
  • Commitment to quality and safety.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong customer orientation and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to company values.
  • Basic computer skills with understanding of Microsoft products.

Physical Demands

  • Occasional walking, sitting, climbing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Ability to routinely lift 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs., and move up to 100 pounds.

Work Environment

Work is primarily performed indoors in a production facility.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises production employees assigned to your area. Works under direct supervision, keeping the Director of Operations and Production Manager informed of progress and potential issues.
