Overview

The Production Planning Manager at FUJIFILM Biosciences will oversee production schedules, manufacturing capacity planning, and key metrics for multiple business production sites. This role collaborates with various departments to meet customer demand and manage inventory.

Position Description

The Production Planning Manager will:

  • Collaborate with S&OP / Master Supply Planner to develop detailed sales and marketing demand forecasts and manufacturing output projections.
  • Work cross-functionally with Production, Procurement, Master Data, Warehouse, Product Line Managers, and Quality Departments to ensure timely production of customer demand.
  • Track and analyze finished goods inventories by category, aiming to maintain optimal monthly inventory levels and minimize back orders.
  • Partner with Demand Planner to handle special materials purchase requests and ensure proper charge backs, tracking reason codes for cancellations.
  • Create and maintain a detailed master production schedule (MPS) for all products at FUJIFILM Biosciences in California.
  • Maintain data and communications for manufacturing dates using sales software applications.
  • Lead weekly Supply, Demand, Inventory (SDI) review meetings to align production product process orders with supply and demand.
  • Process monthly scrap reports for approval and coordinate the disposal of expired materials across multiple production sites.
  • Create and distribute a 12-week Master Production Schedule (MPS) to all business stakeholders weekly.
  • Develop and implement logistics and planning tools using MS Project, PowerBI, spreadsheets, and relational databases for supply chain, procurement, and operations teams.
  • Create and maintain planning and logistics metrics to facilitate process improvements.
  • Establish planning parameters, minimize variability, and align materials management, demand planning, and sourcing to minimize financial impact and uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
  • Support changes in Bill of Materials (BOM), demand, and supply, perform planning assessments as needed, and manage raw material inventory and supply control.
  • Coordinate activities for the manufacture, packaging, labeling, shipping, and distribution of R&D, marketing, and manufacturing products.
  • Provide training and development, job assignments, performance evaluations, and supervision for the department.

Required Skills/Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in supply chain, operations, mathematics, economics, purchasing, or a related life science or finance industry.
  • A degree with a concentration in supply chain, operations, mathematics, economics, purchasing, or a related life science or finance industry is preferred.
  • ASCM or ISM Certification is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 3 years of planning experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment or equivalent role.
  • Minimum 3 years of people management experience.
  • Production scheduling experience in ERP systems or other related inventory planning tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of material requirements planning and production scheduling.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal, collaborative skills, and proactive problem-solving through data-driven analysis.
  • Operate with a sense of accountability.
  • Strong facilitation and influencing skills in a cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to communicate information efficiently.
  • Proficient in Project Management tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Teams).
  • Ability to engage and interface effectively with senior management.
  • Self-motivated.
  • SAP ERP experience preferred.
  • Excellent MS Office and MS Project skills.
  • Ability to speak and read English.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Pay and Benefits

For California, the base salary range for this position is $91,105 - $118,752. Compensation for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience, location, etc.).
