About the role

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise.
  • Plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle.
  • Manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate them to project stakeholders.
  • Be a highly credible thought leader within Google and industry on the subject matter domain of the respective organization.
  • Drive measurable program performance gains correlated to execution velocity.
  • Establish governance over prioritization decisions to ensure alignment with key performance indicators.
  • Be a change advocate responsible for initiating and leading multiple organizations through pivots needed to address shifts in business trends and priorities.
  • Lead strategic planning framework for a complex program portfolio including direct influence over resourcing decisions, planning cadence, and planning stakeholders.
  • Be responsible for both the team’s performance and its well-being, its execution against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and the career development of its constituents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in technical program management.
  • 5 years of experience managing a team of technical program managers.
  • Experience managing a production planning organization.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing a distributed team responsible for the implementation of a global standardized program.
  • Track record of establishing and overseeing the integration of critical systems and maintenance standards, to include spare parts strategies.

Benefits

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US: $240000 - $334000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits
