About the role
We are looking for a Production Order Planner to join our Electrification & Automation (E&A) Business Unit team in Wendell, NC. This role coordinates make-to-order manufacturing activities to ensure reliable customer deliveries, including managing production schedules and communicating changes. You will oversee the flow of materials and information throughout the production cycle, prioritize orders, handle requisitions, and collaborate across multiple departments to align operations and meet customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Daily, weekly, and monthly scheduling of production requirements to balance load while maintaining on-time delivery of components to downstream operations.
- Proactively communicate production schedules, identify and mitigate risks that could adversely affect completion dates.
- Coordinate material movement within the facility to maintain production schedule and flow of material through the factory.
- Review, expedite, and ensure materials are available for production.
- Supply proper and complete paperwork to manufacturing; provide maintenance such as rescheduling or canceling as required.
- Communicate with all departments on material shortages (e.g., Purchasing, manufacturing areas, Customer Services).
- Conduct regular floor checks to ensure materials/orders are progressing on time; communicate expeditiously when production schedule timelines are at risk.
- Know the production status of each order, including upstream and downstream components, to provide accurate, up-to-date production schedules.
- Ensure material has been issued for all production orders and escalate if needed.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 1+ years’ experience using Microsoft Excel for production scheduling and reporting (pivot tables, lookups, filters).
- 1+ years’ experience using SAP for production planning (PP) activities (create/release/monitor production orders).
- Ability to acquire a license upon hire for operating forklifts, stock pickers, reach trucks, etc., as needed.
- Legally authorized for employment within the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with Salesforce, SAP/SPIRDON, or SAP/WM module.
- Knowledge of bill of materials (BOM) structures.
- Manufacturing and machining process knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand drawings/documents.
Pay
Hourly rate: $24.79.
Schedule
Shift hours: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM.
