Position Summary
Operate and maintain spray drying equipment in pharmaceutical products manufacturing facility. Pay is $20 - $22 per hour depending on experience plus $1.50 differential pay night shift.
Essential Functions
- Understand raw material blending and finished goods packaging functions
- Be familiar with inventory control procedures and production batch records
- Be familiar with manufacturing equipment to assure equipment is in good working order
- Operate the equipment (spray dryer) using the proper cores and/or orifices and make sure they are cleaned or replaced when necessary
- Check spray patterns and make corrections when necessary
- Record equipment readings and product moisture noting any discrepancies
- Record any problems or peculiarities in the finished product
- Determine special packaging requirements
- Sample finished product and test for proper moisture content, color, and consistency
- Made certain the blender always has an adequate amount of product available for drying
- Oversee the cleaning of the equipment and surrounding areas
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred and 1 to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably in the pharmaceutical field)
- Must have high school level reading, math, and comprehension skills
Working Conditions
- Position may require walking/standing for long periods
- Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting
- Frequent relocating of 100-200 lb. fiber barrels and 55 lb. bags required
- Exposure to powder and heavy equipment in a loud manufacturing atmosphere
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to powder mineral products, cleaning chemicals, restricted movement, dirty environment, hazardous materials, lifting and carrying heavy objects
- In accordance with the OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard (29CFR 1910.134) Balchem employees (Production, Quality, R&D, and Maintenance) are required to successfully complete annual fit testing (clean shaven req.) and medical clearance (respirator medical certification)
- When required to wear a respirator, wearers must wear it as they fit tested (clean shaven)
