About the role

As a Production Operator, you will be responsible for operating, setting up, and adjusting various equipment on the production line to ensure quality product output. This role requires strong decision-making, communication, and adherence to strict food safety and compliance standards. You may be assigned to different positions including Moulder, Pan Feeder, or various makeup and packaging roles across different lines. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Operates, sets up, and adjusts Moulder equipment; observes proper moulding of dough to ensure quality product
  • Fills flour sifter on moulders (lifting up to 10 lbs.), handles pans of dough (lifting up to 15 lbs.)
  • Keeps conveyors scraped and unjams pans
  • Places pans weighing approximately 6½ lbs. on feed conveyor; removes pans at downtime and end of shift
  • Stacks pans on pan trucks; moves pan trucks weighing up to 1500 lbs. approximately 30 ft. at beginning and end of shift
  • May be assigned to any of the following makeup and packaging positions: Makeup helper, Break Lunch Relief, Moulder Operator, Divider Operator, Oven Operator, Lidder, Pan Operator/Pan Area, Slicer/Feeder, Bagger, Caser, or Packaging helper
  • Racks products as needed; monitors bags and checks quality of product and packaging materials
  • Maintains specific product weights at the divider; sets up oven and proofer per product centerlining and CTS
  • Operates bagger and kwik-lok machines; cases product into baskets or cases keeping up with line speed
  • Monitors bags and codes for clarity and correctness; checks for quality, proper wrap and bagging; understands code board
  • Feeds product into slicer or bagger flites; racks and unracks bread as needed
  • Fills out communication boards daily
  • Maintains work area to "5S" cleanliness, housekeeping, and organizational standards

Requirements

  • Two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have strong decision-making and communication skills
  • Ability to utilize/exercise good judgment; ensure issues are quickly resolved and communicated with supervision
  • Full understanding and adherence to strictest compliance standards including HACCP, CTS, SOP, Safety, GMP, and JSA procedures
  • Focused awareness and prevention of contamination/potential contamination, allergen control, and lot code traceability
  • Must abide to exact formula specifications and procedures to ensure bread quality standards and label contents are aligned
  • Ability to deal with a changing work environment and high-pressure situations
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Good attendance and punctuality required
  • Must stay on the job one year
  • There will be a 90-day evaluation period to ensure satisfactory performance

Physical requirements

  • Stand for extended periods of time
  • Use hands, fingers, and arms to reach, feel product, and manipulate materials and equipment
  • Walk, stoop, climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear
  • Ability to use senses to diagnose and troubleshoot problems
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push/pull heavy loads on wheeled dollies

Work environment

  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to vibration
  • May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, hot/cold temperature extremes, high industrial noise levels, forklift traffic, and wet environments
  • Must comply with all safety regulations, support plant safety initiatives, proper operating procedures, and utilize prescribed safety equipment such as safety eyeglasses, safety shields, gloves, earplugs, respirators, and approved footwear
  • May require overtime as deemed necessary to support operations activities
  • Ability to deal with a changing work environment and high-pressure situations

Pay

Base rate per hour: $21.00.

Schedule

2nd shift. Generally starts as early as 2:45 PM until finish. Overtime and weekend work as needed. Starting times and hours may vary depending on coverage due to report-offs and the production schedule especially during holidays.
