Production Operator - Day Shift

About the role

As a Production Operator, you will operate various machines that fabricate and assemble paper products such as paper bags. This position is on the Day Shift, Monday through Thursday from 6:00am - 4:30pm at our Hammond, LA location. Occasional additional hours or Friday work may be required at the manager's discretion.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety protocols throughout the plant.
• Perform quality checks to verify product meets required specifications.
• Observe machine operations to detect and correct malfunctions such as improper forming, glue flow, or pasteboard tension.
• Install machine attachments for gluing, folding, printing, or cutting.
• Cut products to specified dimensions using hand or power cutters.
• Place rolls of paper on machine feed tracks and thread paper through gluing, coating, and slitting rollers.
• Monitor finished products as they drop from forming machines to prevent jamming.
• Adjust guide assemblies, forming bars, and folding mechanisms according to specifications using hand tools.

Requirements

• Prior machine operator experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus but not required—we provide training.
• Mechanical skills are beneficial.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Reliable attendance and productivity.
• Strong communication skills; ability to report issues quickly.
• Manual dexterity and physical stamina.
• Attention to detail.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Ability to lift and/or carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working in a non-temperature-controlled manufacturing environment.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers to grasp products.
• Ability to work at a rapid pace.
• Climbing and other consistent physical activity required.

Pay

$20.00 - $22.00 hourly. Compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
