About the role

We are seeking a Production Operator/Cook who is hardworking, motivated, and self-starter. This position offers opportunities for a long-term career with consistent hours and potential for growth.

Responsibilities

  • Operates ALL site food processing equipment, including but not limited to mixers, sieves, and steam kettles.
  • Packages finished product.
  • Tests and records in-process verification checks of finished products as necessary.
  • Completes daily documentation of batches with a comprehensive understanding of the data and its impact to the operation.
  • Operates within all standard operating procedures.
  • Cleans and maintains work area.
  • Operates forklifts and other heavy equipment.
  • Adheres to proper Good Manufacturing Practices.

Requirements

  • One to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the company.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to operate forklift and/or certified to operate forklift (training in-house).
  • Ability to shuttle waste and recycling out of the facility in an efficient manner, before overflowing.
  • Ability to work all fill station roles (filling, weighing, cleaning, labeling, and stacking).
  • Shows initiative to jump to another line when needed.
  • Ability to assemble/disassemble on all lines (40s/spreads filler, 100s, 250s, 300, 1500s).
  • Ability to fill out a work order accurately and neatly.
  • Ability to set up and operate all specialty equipment (dicer, finisher, thermutator/terlotherm).
  • Ability to train new production assistants and cooks.

Qualifications

  • Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Exposure to a loud working environment.
  • Exposure to hazards in the workplace such as proximity to equipment conducting extreme heat, moving parts, and electrical current.
  • Must be able to work in an environment containing allergens (nuts, milk, wheat, etc.).
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Frequent hand and finger use.
  • Frequent talking and hearing.
  • Frequent tasting and smelling.
  • Frequent lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying of items up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include: close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
