About the role

A packaging operator works in a manufacturing or industrial setting, operating and monitoring machinery to produce goods. They are responsible for setting up, adjusting, maintaining, and troubleshooting the equipment to ensure efficient and safe production.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure efficient and safe production
  • Work in a safe manner and follow safety guidelines
  • Understand and follow Food Safety policies
  • Read and understand recipes
  • Troubleshoot process-related issues within the boundaries of the recipe
  • Use digital scales and have a working knowledge of scale functions
  • Mix doughs according to recipe
  • Have a working knowledge of the mixer, using the time and batch recipe system
  • Follow FIFO (First in First Out), mix lot number, and documentation accuracy
  • Clean and refill ingredient bins and label the bins with the correct lot number
  • Monitor and assist with equipment upstream/downstream to ensure continuous operation
  • Clean mixers and work areas properly during and after production runs or changeovers
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Observe all plant safety, GMP, and allergen procedures and attend appropriate training sessions
  • Manufacture, distribute, and consistently maintain safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP, and SQF requirements
  • Immediately report all food safety and quality issues to your supervisor
  • Follow supervisor's directives and support the shift team as needed

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a standing position for entire shift
  • Ability to climb steps and ladders
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and work in other departments including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to communicate with others as well as management
  • Understanding of FDA guidelines and company policies
  • Mathematical skills

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Works in a manufacturing facility requiring standing, bending, climbing, or walking 80% of the time
  • Must frequently twist, bend, and stoop when performing work tasks
  • Frequently carry or lift 50 pounds or more

Pay

$18.25 - $20.00
