Production Operator (1st shift)

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the startup, operation, clean up and shut down of manufacturing equipment and processes in accordance with current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Stages material through barcoding and maintains accurate inventories during runs.
  • Plan and lay out work to meet production and schedule requirements
  • Operates hoist, fork truck, pallet jack and maintains daily inspections.
  • Follows precise test procedures as outlined in the Barrday control document
  • Diligently follows all procedures to ensure correct use and proper disposal of chemicals in processes and cleaning equipment
  • Mixes and tests chemicals based on a formula / recipe for each product type.
  • Uses technology (ERP system/MS Office) to determine material and product specifications and enter all production data during and upon completion of production runs.
  • Maintains and monitors quality and raises NCR’s for non-conforming materials and works with Quality / Engineering to identify and implement resolutions.
  • Maintain inventory of job materials
  • Troubleshoots problems with equipment, devices, or products.
  • Monitor and adjust production processes or equipment for quality and productivity.
  • Work with members of other teams including quality, engineering and R&D to address issues and to develop new products, processes, or procedures
  • Packages, labels and places finished products on skids and bands or stretch wraps finished rolls as required
  • Provide production, progress, or changeover reports to shift supervisors.
  • Back up lead operators as required
  • Ensure all equipment and work areas are clean and well maintained.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • 2+ years machine operator experience in a manufacturing production environment.
  • Ability to speak and read instructions competently in English.
  • Capable of learning and retaining operational knowledge of different process areas.
  • Dependable, effective team player willing to cross train and take on new duties.
  • Excellent attention to detail and safety.
  • Must commit to the assigned work schedule and work overtime as required.
  • Moving, bending, pushing and lifting capability up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to work safely with hazardous materials.
  • Working knowledge and comfortable using computers and ERP system to input data.
  • Must adhere to safety requirements including the use of personal protective equipment.
