Full-time Production Manager role coordinating the successful, efficient, and safe operation of day-to-day show activities and outside events in collaboration with the Production Stage Manager and Company Manager.
Responsibilities
- Ensure Blue Man Group values and artistic vision are understood and supported across the organization.
- Oversee efficient and fiscally responsible operation of the Las Vegas production (BMV).
- Develop annual production/technical operating budget and capital replacement plan with General Manager and Heads of Department (HODs).
- Monitor and evaluate show systems and infrastructure needs.
- Approve production/technical purchases and maintain appropriate inventory for published performance calendars.
- Coordinate day-to-day operations with PSM and CM, including safe performance, rehearsal, and backstage activities.
- Create, maintain, and ensure execution of all backstage and on-stage safety and emergency procedures with PSM.
- Oversee technical elements for content refreshes and system upgrades through coordination with PSM, CM, BMP Production, HODs, and Artistic Direction.
- Serve as technical point person for PR/Marketing gigs, appearances, and special events.
- Maintain inventory lists of production-related equipment and ensure proper storage and access.
- Oversee utilization and organization of production storage spaces, both onsite and offsite.
- Manage care and maintenance of all show production infrastructure and equipment, including third-party vendor relationships.
- Lead implementation and monitoring of the Workplace Safety Plan.
- Recommend, implement, and monitor crew safety training, certifications, job hazard assessments, and required documentation.
- Ensure all show materials are fire tested and necessary permits are obtained and maintained.
- Manage production/technical staff, including direct management of HODs and indirect management of full-time and on-call crew.
- Oversee recruitment, hiring, and retention of all production/technical staff.
- Maintain accurate job descriptions, job hazard assessments, and training protocols.
- Oversee performance management and initiate corrective action when necessary.
- Facilitate communication between show departments.
- Create and monitor effective scheduling systems and compliance for crew.
- Monitor show reports, track technical show notes, and address roadblocks or resource issues.
- Track operator errors and address repeated incidents with HODs.
- Oversee daily maintenance and large projects to ensure completion on time and within budget.
- Conduct regular production meetings and check-ins with HODs and Stage Management.
- Conduct Talent Dialogues with BMV production/technical staff within required timeframes.
- Work with procurement and BMP Production to integrate new/replacement products and maintain SDS documentation.
- Serve as a member of the local management team, fostering collaboration and addressing concerns proactively.
- Maintain open communication with local managers, HODs, Blue Man Captain, and Resident Music Director(s).
- Participate in meetings and workshops as requested.
- Provide regular updates to GM on production/technical departments, including opportunities and challenges.
- Perform all other work-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Project and resource management skills, including maintaining multi-person, multi-event schedules.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Verification of the right to work in the United States (Form I-9 and acceptable documentation required).
- Ability to pass a background check (credit, criminal, DMV, employment, education, and personal references).
- Physical ability to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and similar structures.
