Production Manager
About the role
As a Production Manager at Greenheck Group, you will provide daily direction and leadership to maximize productivity through effective use of staffing, equipment, materials, and capital. You will support business unit objectives by communicating and collaborating with key stakeholders across various departments and provide critical input into the Sales & Operations (S&O) Plan and strategic plans for your production area. This role involves direct supervision of production supervisors or other manufacturing support roles.
Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of hourly production employees and may supervise other production supervisors, material specialists, and manufacturing support roles.
- Plan, monitor, execute, and communicate daily, monthly, and annual production goals.
- Assist and provide input for the sales and operations plan to meet financial targets and customer service objectives over a rolling 12-month window.
- Coordinate activities among internal departments (e.g., scheduling, engineering, production management, shipping, inventory control, sales, and purchasing) that affect the production process.
- Monitor daily variance to plan and implement capacity adjustments (overtime, flex labor, recommended capital investment, etc.) to execute the S&O Plan.
- Lead Value Streams and Production areas, identifying and executing continuous improvement projects to achieve productivity goals and maximize efficiency.
- Work with Material Specialists to define procedures ensuring proper inventory management.
- Ensure proper maintenance and optimal performance of production machinery and equipment.
- Maintain work areas to meet or exceed company 5S and safety standards.
- Participate in root cause analysis of safety incidents to prevent recurring issues.
- Identify and lead continuous improvement activities that enhance key performance indicators, improve safety culture, and advance team member relations.
- Participate in and lead 5S and Safety Team activities as necessary.
- Continuously improve productivity and efficiencies through team member engagement, labor planning, lean manufacturing principles, and materials planning.
- Develop cross-training plans and encourage continued development of team members.
- Meet or exceed customer service expectations, including quality and on-time shipping.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of current labor agreements (where applicable), regional labor policies, and government regulations; participate in labor agreement negotiations as needed.
- Provide input to manufacturing engineering functions to improve productivity, including plant layout, process flow, routings/labor standards, work methods, capital equipment, and quality levels.
- Provide guidance and support for corporate maintenance initiatives.
- Represent manufacturing with outside visitors such as company tours, applicants in the interview process, or vendors/suppliers.
Requirements
- 6-8 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 6-8 years of relevant work experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
- 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, operations management, engineering, business administration, management, or a related field of study, or equivalent years of job experience.
- Continuous improvement training.
- Lean manufacturing training.
This role is based on-site at our Shelby, NC location with minimal travel required.
Pay
The starting base pay range for this position is $114,000 - $144,837 and may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance. This role also includes the opportunity to earn additional variable compensation based on achieving specific performance metrics.
