Production Manager
About the Role
Lead and ensure compliance with safety regulations and interface with regulatory agencies. Oversee the production process, maintain product quality, and adjust production plans to meet customer needs while ensuring high-quality output. Manage necessary adjustments to production schedules and methods to align with customer specifications and demands. Actively engage in weekly meetings to coordinate schedules between maintenance and production teams.
Ensure quality work from the operations team by monitoring performance, providing training and support as needed. Coordinate efforts to maintain plant operations during equipment failures or other disruptions. Offer constructive feedback to both maintenance and operations teams to enhance performance. Apply expertise in managing operational processes and employees to achieve organizational goals. Prior experience in mining/heavy manufacturing, especially kilns, is relevant.
Assess and resolve organizational and people issues through coaching and mentoring. Demonstrate excellent organizational abilities, effectively solve problems, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to ensure smooth operations. Maintain a customer service focus with a commitment to continuous improvement.
Improvement Projects
Lead and manage improvement projects aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing costs. Analyze current processes and identify areas for enhancement. Implement and monitor changes to ensure successful outcomes.
Drive active safety engagements among the team using formal safety stand-downs, SLAMs, and shift meetings. Conduct routine field walks to inspect the plant and ensure all processes are in good working order. Establish and manage expectations for housekeeping, greasing, and equipment inspections. Drive accountability and remove barriers to completing these objectives.

Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Mining, Business, or related field.
- 2+ years of Manager experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience as a department manager or superintendent for larger facilities.
- Industry background in manufacturing related to mining, paper mills, steel plants, refractory, heavy equipment fabrication, stone processing, or cement plants preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of operations supply chain business processes, continuous manufacturing and production processes.
- Experience with contemporary concepts of continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing.
- Positive and proactive attitude with the ability to address issues, implement solutions, and motivate others.
- Demonstrable success in cultural 'turnaround' is a plus.
- Proven ability in leading operational excellence through behavior-based management.
- Prior experience demonstrating effective management skills.
- Demonstrable teamwork and maturity with a strong work ethic.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
