About the role
The Production Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and performance of manufacturing operations on the 2nd shift. This role oversees production departments, drives continuous improvement initiatives, promotes a culture of safety and teamwork, and ensures the efficient use of resources to achieve quality, productivity, and operational goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily leadership and direction to manufacturing departments.
- Evaluate operations and implement best practices to optimize productivity, quality, and resource utilization.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives through Lean Manufacturing principles, Kaizen events, and process optimization efforts.
- Foster collaboration, teamwork, and effective communication across manufacturing and other functional departments.
- Ensure production goals for safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, and accuracy are consistently met.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in equipment optimization and capital improvement initiatives to enhance quality, increase production capacity, and reduce waste.
- Recommend and implement improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Promote open, honest, and professional communication throughout the organization.
- Coach, mentor, and develop employees to maximize performance and growth opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts by identifying and removing operational barriers.
- Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and training of production personnel.
- Develop and maintain training plans to ensure workforce competency and development.
- Complete performance evaluations and provide regular feedback for direct reports and production employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervise manufacturing personnel and department leadership.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable employment laws.
- Responsibilities include: Hiring, training, and developing employees.
- Planning, assigning, and directing work activities.
- Monitoring employee performance and productivity.
- Addressing employee concerns and resolving workplace issues.
- Implementing corrective actions and coaching when necessary.
- Supporting employee engagement and professional development initiatives.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing, production operations, or process engineering.
- Experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and production-related software applications.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience in process engineering and production optimization.
- Project management experience.
