Key Responsibilities
- Performs preventative maintenance to help ensure machines run at 85% efficiency or better.
- Ability to problem solve machine malfunctions and breakdowns with minimal support.
- Ability to read equipment manuals and interpret them to understand operation and maintenance of machines.
- Assists machine operators by answering questions, mentoring, and minimizing machine downtime.
- Uses and understands the components of a CMMS system to help track part life and to complete workorders.
- Enroll for continuous training and education on technical maintenance practices to be updated with the latest maintenance techniques and be able to keep equipment in the best possible conditions.
- Equipment repair and troubleshooting, working to understand root cause analysis for breakdowns.
- Able to train Apprentice 1 technicians using the training matrix.
- Able to complete more advanced troubleshooting on production equipment.
- Knowledge and understanding of all the control panels and functions of all equipment.
- Able to have training matrix completed within 2 years for Journeyman 2.
- Understand how a stitch is formed in the machine and the anatomy of a sock.
- Able to perform and understand the effects of sizing and size changes.
- Works well in a team environment and is willing to be a team leader and consensus builder.
- Responsible for keeping knitting machines clean and well maintained.
- Follows all safety procedures, wears protective equipment, when required, and keeps the work area clean and organized.
- Completes all monthly safety training requirements.
- Knowledge and understanding of the finishing department.
- Responsible for the ownership of their own career.
- Responsible for updating and completing PDP requirements throughout the year.
- Responsible for Preventive Maintenance of all production equipment.
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
- Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
- Ability to use common tools such as meters, hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.
- Experience performing routine maintenance.
- Professional presentation and attitude.
- Ability to maintain focus while working individually.
- High School diploma or GED, with preference given to candidates with a technical background and proven maintenance experience.
- Basic mathematic skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and experience of manufacturing operation.
- Hands-on knowledge and experience of production machinery in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
- Reliable and dependable.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing environment – exposure to machinery, noise and other adverse conditions for periods of time depending on the role
- Ability to lift at least 30 pounds
- Flexible nature to manage competing and changing priorities
- Travel locally to all of the organization’s sites and locations
- Occasional travel on as needed basis
