Production Lead Person - 1st Shift

Responsibilities

  • Train and cross-train crews.
  • Ensure that necessary tools and materials are available for crews to accomplish tasks.
  • Oversee crews and ensure that they are reliable, dependable, and on-time.
  • Ensure cooperation among crew members.
  • Maintain and improve morale and ensure crews work as a team.
  • Address questions, concerns, and problems expressed by the crew.
  • Train crew members about the importance of running efficiently.
  • Communicate with crew members regarding performance.
  • Coordinate with your supervisor and Maintenance Superintendent on any repairs or preventive maintenance done in the department.
  • Communicate with necessary supervision to avoid problems between shift changes.
  • Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including safety and good housekeeping.
  • Operate or assist when needed.
  • Carry out Finishing Lead responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including:
    • Training employees.
    • Planning, assigning, and directing work.
    • Conflict resolution and team building.
    • Coaching and leading employees to improve.
    • Addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    • Documentation.
    • Setting an example of superior behavior, attitude, and performance.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One to three years prior supervisory experience.

Skills

  • Language Skills:
    • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
    • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • Mathematical Skills:
    • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
    • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate.
    • Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Reasoning Ability:
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities to support efficient operation and training of personnel.
    • Understanding of cost issues to make daily decisions that reduce overall costs and identify areas for improvement.
    • Knowledge of Quality and Food Safety standards.
    • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, including but not limited to:
      • Wage and hour requirements.
      • Environmental and waste minimization.
      • Company policies and personnel requirements, including OSHA and EEO.
