Responsibilities
- Harvesting animals and preparing product for shipment.
- Using hand tools like knives and hooks, and powered industrial hand tools like saws.
- Lifting, pushing, and pulling product repetitively in a hot and/or cold assembly line environment.
Requirements
- Ability to work in a setting requiring the handling of live animals.
- Knowledge of humane animal handling practices.
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks in various environments.
About the Role
The Plainwell facility began operations in 1918 under the Murray Packing company. It was acquired by Murco in the 1960s and by Packerland in 1998. In 2000, Packerland was acquired by Smithfield. In 2010, the facility joined the JBS USA family. The Plainwell facility is unique as it is the only JBS plant with Modified Atmospheric Packaging (MAP) and produces ground beef patties. The facility produces over one million pounds of beef daily and has received recognition for its environmental initiatives, including being designated as a Tier 3 facility by the American Meat Institute.
