About the Role

Upcoming retirement and succession planning has created a need for a promotable Production Foreman or Team Leader experienced in managing assembly operations in a custom fabrication/lean environment. This role is suited for someone with experience in a low- to medium-volume assembly setting, ideally with knowledge of welding, machining, testing, roll forming, multi-step assembly, and fabrication processes.

You will supervise a team in sheet metal fabrication, plastics and cast component manufacturing, and mechanical product assembly. Demonstrated participation in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and/or continuous improvement initiatives is highly valued. Support will be provided by Production Supervisors and Management, and candidates transitioning from the military with demonstrated leadership and technical skills are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the activities of 10–12 production personnel engaged in all aspects of the assembly function, including communicating job expectations, planning and monitoring work, appraising job results, and managing an assigned workforce.
  • Actively work on the plant floor to recognize bottlenecks, production delays, and workflow problems, and implement solutions.
  • Meet production schedules by establishing priorities and revising schedules as necessary.
  • Establish staffing plans and assign labor hours as required.
  • Identify and implement quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed to maintain manufacturing operations and high-quality standards.
  • Ensure all established cost, quality, and delivery commitments are met.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a hands-on production environment.
  • Leadership experience as a Production Supervisor, Shop Supervisor, Team Leader, Lead Person, or similar front-line leadership role (including military leadership).
  • Strong understanding of workflow, safety, quality, productivity, and employee accountability.
  • Ability to make timely decisions and solve problems in a fast-moving production environment.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, standard work, or continuous-improvement principles is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills sufficient to review production information and complete required documentation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or college education is a plus.

Benefits

This role offers a recession-resistant industry with growth opportunities, minimal overtime, and no weekend work.

Pay

Annual salary range: $75,000 – $85,000 USD.
