About the role

We’re seeking a passionate and dedicated Production Engineer who brings decisiveness, strong decision-making, and expertise to the table. In this role, you’ll take ownership of their assigned manufacturing area, identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives, and lead projects aligned with department strategy and company objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead investigation of new equipment to increase productivity through technology advancement.
  • You will be the project leader in planning, procuring, integrating and installation of production equipment into the Paint areas.
  • Proactively identify continuous improvement activities within manufacturing to help our Associates work safely while increasing the quality of our products.
  • Engage with stakeholders throughout manufacturing to increase the productivity of operations to deliver Toyota’s customer the best value.
  • Support organizational initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of our operations while supporting the community within which we live.
  • Support manufacturing to investigate and eliminate downtime within the assigned area.
  • Develop a vision and path forward for the area you support which will allow new technology and automation to increase productivity and capacity to meet future sales forecasts.
  • Facilitate lean manufacturing practices within the Toyota Production System to improve material flow and inventory levels to reduce lead-time and improve safety.
  • Strive to become the technical expert for the assigned support area, and proactively identify and improve issues before problems occur.
  • Interact with equipment suppliers and other vendors maintain project timelines.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology. (Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial)
  • 0-5 years of hands on experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Experience with production paint operations including: Liquid and powder coat paint application and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of robotic paint application
  • Understanding of paint system design and the benefits of different technologies
  • Basic knowledge of chemical pretreatment systems and chemicals

Qualifications

  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels within the TMH organization
  • Computer skills, including the ability to prepare thorough, concise reports and justifications
  • Able to interpret and create 2D and 3D CAD for manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Experience with technical problem solving
  • Strong work ethic, intrinsically motivated, ability to organize work and multi-task
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing methods including welding, cutting, turning, and milling
  • Able to show initiative and work within a busy environment with conflicting priorities
  • Experience with capital project management from idea to implementation
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Use basic measuring tools and methods (scale, caliper, tape, etc.)

Skills

Pay

$75,000 - $105,000 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate’s education and experience.
