About the role
The Production Engineer I at FUJIFILM Electronic Materials, U.S.A., Inc. is responsible for providing technical support to design, develop, troubleshoot, and characterize high volume manufacturing processes in a safe, environmentally sound, and economic manner. This role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and reporting performance of high-volume manufacturing processes, leading routine improvement activities, and supporting the scale-up, commissioning, and qualification of new and replacement systems.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all production activities for assigned processes are carried out per written procedures with safety and quality at the forefront.
- Demonstrate competency and independence in identifying and correcting gaps in procedures and practices.
- Monitor daily production for high volume manufacturing processes for key processes; identify routine issues and implement corrective actions within defined authority.
- Document procedures for process of record for key processes/products, including SOPs, work instructions, Control Plans, FMEAs, and P&IDs; review documents regularly to ensure accuracy and compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Verify and update batch records and other process documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Support the scale-up, commissioning, and qualification of new and replacement systems; plan and execute assigned portions of projects with moderate supervision.
- Support and participate in environmental, safety and health and quality department programs and requirements.
- Conduct hazard assessments including Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), risk assessments, and other PSM-related reviews under the guidance of more senior engineers.
- Effective at identifying EHS-related issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Analyze statistical process control performance, out-of-control conditions, and trend alerts using data from production systems and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS); requires use of Excel, JMP or other statistical software.
- Conduct and document quality and process trend review investigations for assigned manufacturing areas.
- Work with Control System Engineers, laboratory staff, and Quality Engineers to ensure data accuracy and availability in control systems and LIMS, and to support data-based decision making.
- Perform root cause investigations into quality nonconformances and report findings to internal stakeholders.
- Generate Engineering Change Notices and prepare Management of Change (MOC) documentation as required for changes to manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Provide problem solving expertise for a wide range of chemical manufacturing systems and support development and implementation of engineering solutions.
- Responsible for planning and executing projects as assigned by supervisor.
- Participate in customer meetings, audits and lead technical responses to customer complaints using 8D or customer formats as required.
- Provide guidance and training to entry level engineers and technicians on troubleshooting, documentation, and data analysis tasks.
- Able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
Requirements
- BS in Chemical Engineering or related field.
- 1–2 years’ experience in high volume chemical manufacturing; other technical disciplines with experience in automation, chemical manufacturing, or semiconductor manufacturing will be strongly considered.
- Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles to moderately complex problems.
- Demonstrated innovative thinking and scientific/engineering approach to solve product development and manufacturing problems in school or work environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong computer skills for Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, JMP or other statistical software packages.
- Familiarity with JMP statistical software is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work with process and quality data from control systems and LIMS.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for routine manufacturing issues.
- Demonstrated abilities to work independently with moderate supervision and as a team.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs., stoop, bend, climb and reach.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to work well with others at all levels of the organization.
- Must have a valid drivers’ license and clean driving record, if required by site policy.
PAY RANGE
The pay range for this role is estimated $80,000/yr. - $90,000/yr. with actual wage based on candidate’s qualifications and experience.
