About the role
This role reports to the Production Engineer Leader located at the Pasadena Catalyst Plant. The schedule is 9/80’s, every other Friday off. Production representatives will be on a rotating weekly on-call list. The Production Engineer is accountable for Quality and Productivity in the Catalyst manufacturing units, serving as a leader and process expert. They are vital in maintaining a safe workspace, complying with environmental regulations, and troubleshooting production issues or upsets.
Responsibilities
- Maintains overall understanding of process capability and capacity.
- Reports Production metrics in meetings and on dashboards, including detailed downtime root causes, monthly closing, and forecasting.
- Identifies and defines requirements for process improvement and productivity projects.
- Ensures usage of process-related best practices, standards, and Critical to Quality (CTQ) plans.
- Develops process control support to minimize process and quality variations.
- Provides statistical data analysis for Process Control and Root Cause Analyses (RCAs).
- Conducts Management of Change (MOCs) and participates in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs).
- Participates in incident investigations (OIR) and Process Hazard Analyses.
- Prepares technical Daily Operating Instructions and work instructions for Operations.
- Demonstrates leadership in the field by walking units daily, including outdoor environments.
Requirements
- BS degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Previous experience as a Production or Process Engineer.
- 3+ years of engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing plant.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer-sponsored work authorization (current or future). This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or transfer.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a PSM (Process Safety Management) facility.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
- Basic Process Control System Training (e.g., Delta V).
Physical Requirements and Environment
- Ability to follow safety protocols and standards in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and standards in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials.
- Ability to work in a high-hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
- Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, and full-face respirator.
Pay
Annual wage range: $83,134.40 – $114,309.80. Eligibility for the Short-Term Incentive program and other applicable bonuses.
Schedule
9/80 schedule (every other Friday off). Rotating weekly on-call duty.
