Production Engineer
Functional Role
The Production Engineer ensures EHS compliance and continuous improvement in EHS performance. They provide technical support for production troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis of process issues. They also lead training on and advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving processes.
- Collaborates with Quality on chemistry-related issues and method formulation improvements.
- Works cooperatively with site engineering to develop project scopes and process engineering packages for new installations and retrofits of facilities.
- Contributes technical input for maintenance of raw material usage standards (SAP bill of materials) and drives analysis and continuous improvement of raw material utilization (yield performance).
- Analyzes equipment time utilization (OEE) and drives continuous improvement.
- Executes functional safety measures for assigned processes, including process hazard analysis (PHA), Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews (PSSR), and completion of Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA).
- Supports basic process control systems (DCS - Yokogawa) to optimize process performance and functionality for operators.
- Assists production department in creating and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Leads or assists in incident and near miss investigation processes to mitigate risk or resolve.
- Supports the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and goals aligned with the Plant Production Management Committee (PPMC); monitors KPI performance to identify support needs in addressing performance gaps.
- Prepares technical progress reports on active projects and initiatives.
- Satisfies all Corporate Quality Requirements.
- Promotes Responsible Care 14001 through active participation in the Responsible Care Management System and adheres to the Guiding Principles of Responsible Care 14001.
Continuous Improvement
The Production Engineer drives a culture of continuous improvement by collaborating with teams to enhance processes and operations for increased productivity and efficiency (Operational Excellence). They actively participate in a culture of continuous improvement through collaborative engagement and by providing suggestions in meetings and trainings to improve processes and systems.
- Identifies and leverages best practices developed across SI to ensure work is accomplished through defined, measured, and continuously improved work processes.
- Proactively identifies and leverages best practices developed across SI to ensure work is accomplished through defined, measured, and continuously improved work processes.
Personal Leadership
The Production Engineer models personal leadership through the exhibition of SI’s Value-Based Behavioral Competencies. They demonstrate strong personal awareness and the ability to build collaborative and productive relationships cross-functionally.
- Engages in SI Group’s Culture of Continuous Improvement through personal and professional capability enhancement.
