About the Role
The Production Coordinator at the Distribution Center (DC) is responsible for releasing orders to the DC floor as planned and scheduled by the Demand Planner. This role coordinates the flow of work and materials to ensure the plan is executed accurately and on time, working closely with the Demand Planner and DC team to meet customer requirements while maintaining efficiencies.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and expedites the flow of work and materials within or between departments at the DC.
- Releases orders to the DC floor for all shifts as planned and scheduled by the Demand Planner.
- Ensures daily order release requirements are achieved to meet customer expectations.
- Performs daily verification of order release and fulfillment reported by DC and inventory control staff.
- Reviews available inventory and dates new orders daily in support of the Demand Planner's schedule.
- Responds to lead time requests daily.
- Escalates issues to ensure actual order release and fulfillment meets expected throughput, minimizing errors and fulfilling the demand plan.
- Analyzes usage requirements to minimize work in process (WIP) and excess inventory on the floor.
- Works closely with supervisors to ensure departments have the necessary components, materials, and staff for order flow.
- Collaborates with the Demand Planner to understand and support the overall plan, providing floor-level feedback on capacity, constraints, and order status.
- Assists with developing ITO and delivery precision performance for each product type.
- Helps prepare for monthly KPI and business unit forecast precision roundtable meetings.
- Engages in process improvement projects with interfacing departments to drive DC and order fulfillment efficiencies.
Requirements
- APICS-CPIM certification preferred.
- Proficient with WMS/MRP/ERP systems, Microsoft Word, Excel (power user), PowerBI, and PowerPoint.
- 3+ years of experience in a distribution center or manufacturing environment, particularly in order release, scheduling, or supply chain functions.
- Associate’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in SIOP or relevant supply chain processes preferred.
- Knowledge of supply chain processes, including demand planning, order release, and replenishment in a DC environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to manage complexity and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and remain organized.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills and IT/systems proficiency, particularly in Excel.
- Working knowledge of demand planning software.
- Experience managing internal communications and working cross-functionally to deliver results.
- Demonstrated ability to continuously improve processes and remain calm under pressure.
