Production Associate-Welder

About the role

Blackstone Advanced Technologies in Jamestown, NY is looking to hire 10 Production Associates-Welders. Pay ranges from $16.50 to $22.00 per hour, based on experience and weld test.

Responsibilities

• Operate welding equipment (MIG, TIG &/or Spot) to weld components together.
• Set up welding equipment.
• Blueprint reading.
• Lift, position, and remove pieces for welding.
• Marks reference points to assist in layout.
• Loads, stacks, and transports stock and work in process by hand or truck.
• Attaches grappling equipment to pieces to prepare piece for moving by crane or jib.
• Grind, clean, polish parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools.
• Performs visual inspection of all components handled and some dimensional inspections using simple measurement devices.
• Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
• Performs other routine duties.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• One to three months experience in MIG or TIG welding steel, stainless and/or aluminum.
• Training in MIG or TIG welding steel, stainless and/or aluminum.
• Able to successfully work independently and as a team member.
• A good attendance history (reliability).
• Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts and skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

• Regularly stands.
• Frequently walks and reaches with hands and arms.
• Occasionally climbs or balances; kneels, crouches, or crawls.
• Talks or hears.
• Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds with little or no assistance and occasionally lifts and/or moves greater weights with mechanical assistance.

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
