About the Role

This position is responsible for the effective utilization of materials, equipment, and systems in the assembly of moderately complex electro-mechanical products. The role involves customizing and installing Custom Bus into Switchboard cabinetry, including basic to moderately complex troubleshooting, measuring, fabricating, and installing parts.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand moderately complex to very complex blueprints, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and schematics.
  • Assemble medium-sized to very large parts, continuously lifting parts weighing up to 40 pounds (using overhead cranes or lift devices for weights beyond 40 pounds).
  • Utilize a wide variety of hand tools, air tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Perform the entire custom Bus operation for a job from start to finish, including quality checks.
  • Use independent judgment to resolve discrepancies between bills of materials and drawings.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and seek support from supervision and engineering as needed.
  • Quarantine non-conforming product according to standards and determine its disposition.
  • Provide periodic input to supervision, engineering, and quality groups for product improvement.
  • Maintain a safe and healthful working environment in accordance with OSHA requirements.
  • Utilize computer systems for clocking job start and finish times.
  • Ensure proper measuring techniques, tool use, and care.
  • Perform other tasks as requested to ensure effective and continuous utilization of assets.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of electro-mechanical assembly experience.
  • Basic understanding of UL requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Proficiency in basic shop math and measuring techniques.
  • Expertise with basic hand tools, air tools, gages, torque wrenches, grinders, and punch press equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and pass the appropriate WorkKeys assessment.

Physical Demands

  • Excellent natural or corrected vision.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds; continuous lifting of parts up to 40 pounds (with assistance for weights beyond 40 pounds).
  • Job cannot be performed alternating between sitting and standing.
  • Ability to perform continuous repetitive motions with hands and arms.
  • Requires reaching overhead, pulling, pushing, and climbing a ladder.
  • Requires a great deal of independent thought, judgment, and problem-solving for assembly and bus issues.

Working Conditions

  • Safety shoes and safety glasses are required.
  • Work is performed in a production environment within a manufacturing plant.
  • Noise levels are within normal and acceptable standards.
  • Proper use of various hand tools and cutting tools is required.
  • Weight of parts assembled varies from a few pounds to 80+ pounds; proper handling of equipment is critical.
