Production Associate

Pay Range: $16.90 to $17.40 per hour.

About the role

The Production Associate at RWB Thrift is responsible for executing diverse tasks and processes within backroom operations. This position requires attention to detail, physical endurance, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Production Associates may be assigned to various roles within the backroom. A top-performing individual is eager to enhance and broaden their skills, enabling them to perform well in multiple areas of the backroom as business needs dictate.

Key areas of responsibility

• Hanger: Ensures products destined for the sales floor are properly hung and placed on the appropriate rack. Must be detail-oriented, paying attention to color order, sleeve length, and garment type.
• Tagger: Accurately affixes price tags to products in accordance with company standards and enters prices into the pricing machine. Works alongside the Pricer and is expected to learn how to price items for the sales floor.
• Pricer Support: Works closely with Pricers and learns pricing tasks to provide coverage during the Pricer's absence.
• Tallyer & Sensor Support: Meticulously counts items intended for the sales floor and attaches sensors to products as required. Ensures sensor placement is correct and understands different fabric types to maintain inventory accuracy.
• Runner: Promptly delivers priced merchandise to its designated location on the sales floor while maintaining organization and color order. Monitors the sales floor condition, addresses safety concerns, and informs management of overfilled areas. Assists customers as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous thrift, retail, warehouse, or back-of-house experience is preferred but not required.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to Safely Perform Job Functions: Capable of safely and effectively performing essential job functions in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting both qualitative and quantitative productivity requirements.
• Physical Strength: Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs, frequently exert up to 25 lbs of force, and constantly apply negligible force when handling objects.
• Endurance: Able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Manual Dexterity: Proficient in performing repetitive motions such as extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction and working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm.
• Fine Motor Skills: Skilled in tasks involving seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands.
• Balance and Agility: Capable of maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces, as well as maintaining balance when performing agile tasks.
• Visual Acuity: Possesses clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.

• Atmosphere: Dynamic and consistently busy. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment is essential.
• Noise Level: Noisy due to bustling activity on the sales floor and production area. Ability to work effectively in a noisy environment is required.
• Lighting: Bright lighting throughout the front and back of the store. Ability to work effectively in a bright environment is required.
• Interactions with Others: Regular interactions with customers, donors, and coworkers. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Flexibility: High degree of flexibility required. Employees may be asked to switch tasks or departments based on operational needs.

Language Requirements

While employees are not required to communicate exclusively in English, a fundamental understanding of written and spoken English may be necessary for comprehending instructions and communicating with customers, donors, colleagues, and supervisors who primarily use English.
