Job Function – Requirements – Success Factors The Utility Operator provides support for the manufacture of automotive adhesives and sealants at PPG Adrian, enabling PPG’s continued success in the automotive market. The incumbent is responsible for completing tasks that enable production and the facility as a whole to run safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Transporting materials for production via fork-truck
• Labeling and organizing inventory of raw materials and finished goods
• Pre-assembling materials for production
• Cleaning containers for use in production
• Filling containers of finished goods in production

Requirements

• Successful completion of the employment selection process
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not mandatory
• Ability to learn to operate a variety of industrial production related equipment
• Good math skills and mechanical ability
• Flexibility and willingness to rotate work assignments readily
• Capability to obtain forklift operation certification
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Problem-solving skills, capability to make logical decisions, and detail-oriented

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operators will be assigned to any of the areas below.
• Preassembly: Weighing raw material components according to a specific formula on a batch ticket, retrieving and placing raw materials on a pallet, moving pallets to a staging area.
• Batch Filling: Filling completed batches into various container sizes, ensuring batches are filled to the correct weight, and applying proper labeling and packaging.
• Container Cleaning: Cleaning finished good containers, managing inventory of cleaned containers.
• 5S Housekeeping: Organizing inventory, sweeping, mopping, and performing other general housekeeping activities.
• Quality: Participating in the PPG Quality Process.
• Safety: Ensuring personal safety and product quality, adhering to safety standards, and performing other general tasks related to production.
