Production Associate

About the role

The Off Bearer is responsible for consistently operating a zone of press machines at or above standard levels of operation, considering waste, efficiency, and utilization. This role involves troubleshooting, identifying, and correcting machine-related problems through proper adjustments. You will provide innovative solutions for production problems.

Responsibilities

• Pick up the required lanes of cut and printed blanks from the press delivery table.
• Jog blanks and inspect for cutting or printing defects; notify operator when defects are present.
• Stack blanks on a pallet to the required height.
• Wrap full pallet with stretch wrap and place completed load tag on the pallet.
• Move full pallets of blanks with manual or electric pallet jack to material handling staging area.
• Assist with make-ready on the press, such as pulling cylinders, washing pumps, and changing gears.
• Understand how each section of the press operates.
• Perform blade changes properly.
• Assist with machine maintenance and cleaning.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous experience working in a manufacturing or fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively with little to no supervision.
• Positive work attitude and willingness to cooperate.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

• Ability to pile down handfuls of blanks weighing between 10 and 20 pounds on a consistent basis.
• Frequent bending to stack blanks on pallets.
• Required to stand while performing essential duties of the job.
• Lift and handle cutting dies and counter plates weighing up to 200 pounds with assistance on an occasional basis.
• Lift and carry 5-gallon ink pails weighing 10 to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Assist in lifting cylinders weighing up to 150 pounds using a mechanical hoist on an occasional basis.
• Assist in lifting press rollers and stripper shells weighing up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis.
• The noise level in the work environment is consistently above 85 decibels.
• Able to work with dust from the paper converting process.
• Constantly works near moving mechanical parts and lift trucks.
• Ambient temperature and humidity may be elevated during summer months.

Pay

Compensation includes a pay range of $20.53/hr - $25.66/hr, plus a $1.00 shift differential for 2nd shift and $1.50 shift differential for 3rd shift.

Schedule

3rd shift: 11:00pm - 7:00am, Monday through Friday.
