Production Associate

About the role

Production Associate at Hood Lumber is responsible for cleaning designated production areas of lumber, bark, and sawdust using a variety of hand and mechanical tools/equipment to ensure smooth and efficient machinery operation and provide a safe workplace.

Responsibilities

• Commitment to working safely and following safety rules, procedures, and environmental guidelines.
• Cross-train on production equipment.
• Load or unload materials and products from machines.
• Monitor machines to ensure continued movement of lumber and materials throughout the mill.
• Perform cleanup activities throughout the mill using tools such as air hoses, shovels, brooms, blowers, and wheelbarrows.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to operate equipment safely and responsibly.
• Ability to understand, clearly communicate, and follow all safety rules and policies.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Observes all safety requirements, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient production.
• Able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

Physical Requirements

• Perform tasks such as walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, grasping, and standing for up to 12 hours per day.
• Able to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
• Able to work in extreme temperatures and dusty, noisy conditions.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the work shift.
