Production Assistant (Night Shift)

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for properly performing activities relative to assisting the extrusion operator in efficiently operating the extrusion equipment and producing quality products within a large, 24/7 manufacturing environment. Critical features of this job are described under the headings below. They may be subject to change at any time.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Contributes to accident-free operations and compliance to all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements and regulations.
• Aid the department in producing a quality product based upon product specifications.
• Maintain and complete quality checks to ensure that the products (color, surface, size, etc.) meet product standards before packaging.
• Place pallets and apply proper packaging techniques for finished materials as directed.
• Move materials to designated areas as needed.
• Support the extrusion operator with all machine cleaning tasks, including saws, tanks, etc., when necessary.
• Communicate daily issues and pertinent information to production assistants, assistant operators, operators, and team leaders as needed.
• Follow all plant safety procedures to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
• Understand and adhere to all company policies, practices, and procedures.
• Complete detailed production operator reports.
• Complete and attach labels according to product specifications.
• Perform housekeeping duties in the production area.
• Perform additional duties as needed and/or assigned by leadership.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year
• Computer Skills: Basic computer skills
• Other Requirements: Ability to read, write, and understand the English language; basic mathematical proficiency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers and fractions; ability to follow written and verbal instructions, read gauges, and similar measuring devices.
