Production Assistant (Night Shift)
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for properly performing activities relative to assisting the extrusion operator in efficiently operating the extrusion equipment and producing quality products within a large, 24/7 manufacturing environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Contributes to accident-free operations and compliance to all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements and regulations.
- Aid the department in producing a quality product based upon product specifications.
- Maintain and complete quality checks to ensure that the products (color, surface, size, etc.) meet product standards before packaging.
- Place pallets and apply proper packaging techniques for finished materials as directed.
- Move materials to designated areas as needed.
- Support the extrusion operator with all machine cleaning tasks, including saws, tanks, etc., when necessary.
- Communicate daily issues and pertinent information to production assistants, assistant operators, operators, and team leaders as needed.
- Follow all plant safety procedures to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
- Understand and adhere to all company policies, practices, and procedures.
- Complete detailed production operator reports.
- Complete and attach labels according to product specifications.
- Perform housekeeping duties in the production area.
- Perform additional duties as needed and/or assigned by leadership.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year
- Computer Skills: Basic computer skills
- Other Requirements: Ability to read, write, and understand the English language; basic mathematical proficiency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers and fractions; ability to follow written and verbal instructions, read gauges, and similar measuring devices.
