Production Assistant Driver

About the role

At The Salvation Army Thrift Store, your work helps turn donations into funding for programs that support people in our community. We're seeking a professional and courteous driver to transport materials to and from specified destinations. This role is essential in representing The Salvation Army while providing exceptional service to our donors and maintaining efficient operations.

Responsibilities

• Transportation & Logistics:
  • Follow scheduled routing procedures efficiently
  • Drive Salvation Army truck for pickups and deliveries
  • Ensure security and safe handling of all goods and materials
  • Perform daily pre and post-trip inspections of vehicles
  • Maintain equipment in excellent working order
  • Comply with all DOT and OSHA regulations
  • Train and Certify New Production Assistants
• Customer Service:
  • Act as a personal representative of The Salvation Army
  • Ensure all donors are treated courteously and respectfully
  • Communicate donation acceptance policy with donors
  • Report any pickup problems to dispatcher
• Operations Support:
  • Use DSS program and assigned iPad apps effectively
  • Support beneficiaries in work therapy goals through training and mentoring
  • Handle loading and unloading of trucks as needed
  • Wear all assigned PPE including gloves, masks, and back guard
  • Report any safety or security concerns immediately

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Knowledge of basic computer skills. Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.

Qualifications

Experience with transportation logistics and customer service is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is helpful.

$20.00 per hour

40 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
