Production Assistant - 2nd Shift

About the role

Based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the Helper (Production Assistant) will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the 3rd shift supervisor to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed. This position is safety-sensitive due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market.

Responsibilities

• Prepares work for processing including cleaning, painting, wiring, fixturing, etc.
• Loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.
• Stacks/loads parts in customer bins or containers.
• Immediately brings any unusual problem, irregularity, or concern to the Heat Treater, Foreman/Lead Person, or management.
• Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
• Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
• Responsible for the care and treatment of customer inventory to prevent loss or damage.
• Reports for work on time, follows directions, interacts effectively with co-workers, understands and follows rules and procedures, and accepts constructive criticism.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of basic math.
• Must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements: U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders only.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.
• Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.

Physical & Mental Demands

• Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods in an industrial environment.
• Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
• Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity.
• Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
• Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
