Product Tester & Researcher

About the role

Every week, you'll do a deep dive into a tech project. That could be setting up a server, trying out the best streaming boxes, testing 3D printers, or whatever the project of the week is. You'll deep-dive into complex technical concepts of how things work, what features something has, and help teach our audience. You'll work directly with our writers, who will help shape the story and bring your research into the limelight for our audience to understand and enjoy. You'll usually be two or three projects ahead of the writing team.

Responsibilities

• Take a video topic and figure out what to test, set it up, run it, and record what happened
• Dig into forums, documentation, YouTube videos, to find add depth to the research
• Run hands-on tests in our office, such as unboxing, cabling, flashing firmware, benchmarking, measuring, photographing results, logging numbers in a way someone else can read
• Keep the test bench and gear organized, and keep a running list of topics worth testing next
• Work with our writers and help them put your research into the Switch and Click style

Requirements

You're the person your friends text before they buy a monitor. You've built your own machines, broken them, and fixed them. You have a homelab, or a mechanical keyboard problem, or a NAS. When something doesn't work, you like to tinker and figure out what went wrong. Deep curiosity about consumer tech and the willingness to dive down tech rabbit holes. Hands-on comfort with hardware and software setup. You don't need to be an expert in every category we cover, but willing to learn at all times. Clear, organized communication. Clean notes, labeled screenshots, and recordings. Easy to work with. You'll get pushback on your findings and asked to explain things over and over to make it more digestible for our audience. Able to work in our Farmers Branch office full time.

• Experience in IT support, an MSP, a repair bench, or a tech retail floor where you explained products to strangers all day
• A history of detailed forum or Reddit posts, a blog, a GitHub, or anything else that shows you've already been doing this work for free
• Familiarity with Linux, networking, or self-hosting
• You already watch Switch and Click

Pay & Benefits

• $50,000 to $55,000 to start, depending on experience, with raises tied to a path we'll show you on day one
• Full-time W-2, in office in Farmers Branch, TX
• Eligible for our revenue share once you've been here long enough
