Product Technology M&A Senior Associate
About the role
The Product Technology Senior Associate role focuses on evaluating software platforms through an integrated commercial, operational, and financial lens. The team provides investment-grade insights that tie product architecture and roadmap credibility directly to valuation, growth, and margin sustainability. You will provide analytical and technical support across product technology diligence engagements, focusing on architecture, engineering, and cost analysis.
Responsibilities
- Conduct architecture reviews and documentation analysis
- Support codebase and technical debt analysis
- Analyze cloud infrastructure configurations
- Affiliate in evaluating roadmap feasibility
- Assist in evaluating engineering operating model (team structure, velocity, DevOps)
- PoV on scalability risks, performance bottlenecks, and security considerations
- Support hosting cost, SaaS economics and R&D cost analysis
- Prepare diligence slides, summaries, and deal insights
- Support management Q&A tracking
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, computer science is a plus
- 3-6 years of software-related work experience (strategy consulting work experience is a plus)
- Experience of transactions is desired, ideally in performance of Technology Due Diligence and/or strategic value creation assignments
- 3–6 years in technology experience e.g., software engineering, cloud engineering, architecture analysis, or product development environments
- Experience in SaaS or platform businesses preferred
- Detail-oriented and good at sifting through (large) datasets quickly to identify patterns and develop insights
- Strong analytical and documentation skills
- Structured problem solving
- Attention to detail
- High learning agility
- A passion for software industry
- Interest in private equity and transaction environments
- Able to travel up to 50%
Qualifications

Pay
The base salary range for this position is between $150,280 and $170,386. Placement within the pay range is at Grant Thornton’s discretion, and it is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, progression within the role, geographic location, and internal equity.
Schedule
