About the Role
As a Product Support Engineer, you will be the on-site technical authority and primary liaison between the manufacturing facility and product engineering, ensuring that production processes, quality standards, and technical specifications are strictly met. You will resolve technical issues, optimize manufacturing processes, and minimize downtime by providing proactive and reactive support on the factory floor.
Responsibilities
- Ensure quality control and compliance by performing on-site inspections of components and assemblies to verify adherence to drawings, engineering specifications, and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design or machine issues that cause production downtime.
- Actively bridge the gap between suppliers, manufacturing, and product engineering to facilitate communication, report on issues, and ensure swift resolution.
- Provide post-sales technical support to maintain high-quality standards and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Manage and coordinate efforts among cross-functional teams to complete projects.
- Provide product engineering support, including managing pilot parts, pilot runs, pilot data, and coordinating ECN status to operations; write deviations if required.
- Support plant operations, including production, manufacturing, in-plant quality, and engineering needs.
- Lead troubleshooting activities to solve customer, plant, or engineering problems.
- Contribute to quality improvement projects and brainstorm and lead cost improvement projects.
- Analyze and present data as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant technical field. Equivalent relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently or with a team.
- Results-driven personality with a customer service mindset.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, especially using moderately complex terminology and concepts.
- Willingness to travel domestically up to 25%.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience as a technical services technician.
- HVAC experience highly desired.
Schedule
Assembly operates on a 4-day, 10-hour work-shift schedule. Salaried employees who are not front-line supervisors work five days to support this arrangement. They can choose between working extended hours from Monday to Thursday with a half day on Friday or opt for full eight-hour workdays from Monday to Friday.
Location
This position is located at our Rushville, Indiana facility. Our 2-building campus offers a safe and clean work environment with a “family” atmosphere. We manufacture new semi-hermetic compressors, remanufacture worn-out compressors to “like new” status, and manufacture crankshafts. Approximately 200 employees work in Rushville and are an integral part of our organization.
Rushville, IN, is less than an hour from Indianapolis and a short drive from larger communities such as Shelbyville, Greenfield, and Greensburg.
