About the role

This Product Support Engineer- Building Services role provides in-depth technical and strategic sales support for Trane’s industry-leading chiller portfolio, executes marketing communication that promotes sustainability, efficiency, and reliability in HVAC systems, and advises how products and services can be used in the electrification/decarbonization of HVAC systems to improve energy efficiency levels.

The work schedule is Monday to Thursday onsite with colleagues. Fridays offer flexibility to choose your work location, balancing work requirements. This is an on-site position; the office location will be determined based on workspace availability during the recruiting process.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and marketing/sales support to the service sales field organization through phone/email support, direct customer interaction, special product selection/pricing/quotation activity, new product development, marketing content, and customer factory visits.
  • Travel to sales offices, corporate events, and customer sites in support of Trane Service, including formal presentations, sales discussions, and supporting tradeshows.
  • Establish product lines’ “selling story.” Ensure that the service sales support department, appropriate business unit functional areas, and field sales force are familiar with the “selling story.”
  • Understand competitors' products and strategies and effectively communicate this information with the field, department, and other functional areas.
  • Participate in creative thinking, team decision-making, and problem solving with cross-functional teams.
  • Price projects and assist in bid strategies.
  • Provide marketing/technical/systems/applications support to peers, the sales field organization, and external customers.
  • Participate/lead in projects that relate to new product development, developing marketing/promotional/technical content, and improving sales tools.
  • Support a professional field and customer-focused environment, with measurements in place to track performance and improve the process.
  • Assist the service sales field organization with configuring equipment and developing software requirements that improve the software’s capabilities.
  • Train new service sales engineers that participate in the Trane Graduate Training Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant industry work experience is required.
  • 2+ years of engineering-related work experience is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to travel independently up to 10% of the time required.

  • Tactfulness and assertiveness; must be an effective and clear decision-maker under pressure; able to communicate effectively with field (customers, estimators, and account managers) and internal customers.
  • Aggressive, success-oriented, self-starter able to manage time and priorities to meet specific goals and objectives.
  • Highly developed and demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and team-player skills.
  • Proficient in PC and end-user computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Cloud-based Selection Software).

Pay

Annual Base Salary Range: $75,700.00 - $135,834.99 (compensation type: salary).

Actual compensation will depend on factors such as seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation.
