About the role
The Product Owner is a key member of the solution delivery team, working closely with the Product Manager and business stakeholders to understand business objectives and ensure solutions have strategic alignment and business value.
Responsibilities
- Act as the subject matter expert for the product and extract business value.
- Define the overall product vision, strategy, and validation criteria.
- Absess risks and benefits of product enhancements and gain alignment with stakeholders, business partners, and product managers.
- Prioritize and make business value-driven decisions.
- Proactively obtain feedback to ensure end-user value is being delivered.
- Collaborate with the Product Manager and provide input into the roadmap.
- Engage with stakeholders, business partners, and the agile team in scope definition, dependency creation, and requirements refinement.
- Build strong relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams.
- Define project goals, sprint or iteration objectives, and user acceptance tests.
- Manage and prioritize the agile teams backlog and acceptance criteria.
- Write epics, features, and user stories.
- Define process flows.
- Translate business needs into product specifications.
- Understand business applications from a functional and technical perspective.
- Cookordination with teams to plan and execute product releases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams to develop, execute, and release in alignment with business priorities.
- Take an active role in mitigating impediments.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner.
- 2 to 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience in an agile and scrum development organization.
- Experience writing epics, features, and user stories.
- Experience defining process flows.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional agile teams to develop, execute, and release in alignment with business priorities.
- Proven ability to translate business needs into product specifications.
- Proven ability to understand business applications from a functional and technical perspective.
- Self-motivated with the proven ability to think analytically and problem solve.
- Commitment to working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Strong initiative and desire for continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of agile methodologies.
- Strong communication skills, including conveying difficult concepts and negotiating with others to adopt a different point of view.
- Ability to prioritize and make business value-driven decisions.
- Ability to build strong relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with the Atlassian product suite, including JIRA and Confluence.
Skills
- PMPO certification preferred
- SAFe methodology knowledge preferred.
- Solid understanding of the insurance industry.
