What You’ll Be Doing

Role Overview: As a Product Owner at Evolent Health, you will contribute to the strategy, design, and execution of solutions that enable seamless new client implementations and partner integrations across our healthcare technology platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Leadership & Strategy: Serve as the Product Owner supporting the Partner Delivery provider data scrum team, driving scalable, configurable provider data pipeline solutions. Contribute to product vision, strategy, and roadmap in partnership with Product Managers and executive stakeholders. Translate client implementation requirements into user stories, data mapping requirements, and acceptance criteria. Leverage modern tools—including LLMs and AI-assisted analysis—to accelerate requirements gathering, enhance product discovery, and improve solution design. Champion a delivery model aligned to implementation milestones, go-live readiness, and client commitments—identify risks and gaps proactively, escalating and addressing them with guidance from leadership.

  • Technical Expertise & Delivery: Develop subject matter expertise in provider data requirements, UM applications, partner integrations, and healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, EDI). Own and maintain the product backlog, including prioritization, grooming, and sprint planning activities. Support engineering with file transfer processes, data analysis, mapping requirements, and provider network design. Work with cross-functional partners to bring clarity to ambiguous or evolving requirements, minimizing downstream rework. Utilize AI-assisted tools to synthesize requirements, identify gaps, and improve documentation quality and speed. Own user acceptance testing to ensure alignment with implementation requirements and stakeholder expectations. Participate in production support, including issue reproduction, gap analysis, and resolution.

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Build strong cross-functional relationships across product, data operations, and engineering teams. Surface risks early, communicate trade-offs clearly, and manage stakeholder expectations. Synthesize complex technical concepts into executive-level insights and support decision-making in steering committees. Influence outcomes and drive alignment across stakeholders, even in complex or competing-priority environments. Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.

  • Continuous Improvement & Scalability: Drive standardization and optimization of provider data onboarding to reduce cycle time and improve quality. Challenge existing processes and identify opportunities to modernize tools, workflows, and architecture. Stay current with emerging technologies, including AI/LLM capabilities, to inform product strategy and delivery practices.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in healthcare technology, with knowledge of Provider Data Management, Implementations, Utilization Management, or Prior Authorization.
  • Experience working with agile teams to deliver data integration products.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a self-starter, proactively identifying problems and driving solutions with minimal oversight.
  • Experience or interest in using AI/LLM tools to support requirements gathering, product discovery, or solution design.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Visio).

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a technical or related field.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or similar.
  • Experience writing product documentation (release notes, user guides).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban).
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent.
