Product Manager - U.S. Oxo Intermediates

About the role
The Product Manager – U.S. Oxo Intermediates supports and executes the commercial strategy for OXEA's Propanol, Propyl Acetate, and Propionaldehyde portfolio within the Intermediates U.S. Business Line. This role collaborates with the Director – Intermediates U.S. and cross-functional teams to drive pricing strategy, profitability, demand forecasting, portfolio planning, and market development initiatives. The position ensures products meet market needs while achieving revenue and profitability goals, aligning with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values, and HSE standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute short and long-term product strategies for n-Propanol, n-Propyl Acetate, and Propionaldehyde, aligned with business objectives.
- Prepare demand forecasting and portfolio planning activities.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations to align production planning with commercial strategy and market outlook.
- Own product pricing strategy, margin targets, and profitability management.
- Translate market and customer needs into clear product requirements.
- Identify and execute growth initiatives in solvent-based inks, flexographic printing, packaging, coatings, and adjacent applications.
- Lead and support customer trials, qualifications, and product conversions in collaboration with Sales and Technical teams.
- Evaluate competitive landscape, supply-demand dynamics, and regulatory developments to identify strategic opportunities.
- Assess competitor offerings, pricing structures, and positioning to inform strategic decisions.
- Partner with commercial teams to build robust market segmentation and value-proposition models.
- Participate in strategic customer discussions involving portfolio positioning, supply strategy, and long-term agreements.
- Provide market intelligence and commercial insights to management to support portfolio decisions and product allocation.
- Develop business cases for capital investment, product development, and market expansion.
- Support Sales teams through training, technical guidance, and development of customer-facing materials.
- Lead cross-functional teams including Sales, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations.
- Drive continuous improvement projects related to market growth, margin expansion, cost optimization, and process efficiency.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of commercial experience within the chemical industry.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Product Management, Product Marketing, Business Development, Commercial Marketing, or Business Management.
- Demonstrated experience managing a chemical product portfolio, including pricing, forecasting, market analysis, and profitability.
- Experience working with customers in solvents, coatings, inks, packaging, adhesives, industrial chemicals, or related markets is preferred.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing commercial execution across Sales, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and Business Development is preferred.
Skills
- Demonstrated track record in commercializing chemical intermediates or specialty chemicals, including product launches, segmentation, pricing, and portfolio management.
- Strong business and financial acumen: ability to build business cases, analyze P&L impacts, and make data-driven decisions.
- Experience negotiating pricing and contracts.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred), CRM platforms, and data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI) to support pricing, forecasting, and performance tracking.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate market data into actionable commercial strategy.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and collaboration skills across functions and regions.
