About the role
The Data and Identity Layer
CJ's data and identity layer is at the core of its commerce media network, enabling measurement and attribution across various commerce surfaces. This layer is evolving rapidly as CJ introduces AI into every aspect of the shopping journey.
Responsibilities
- Own publisher-focused tracking
- Take end-to-end ownership of CJ’s publisher-facing tracking solutions, including systems that capture how publishers drive consumer engagement across shopping platforms.
- Decide what to build and why, grounded in evidence, and shape the roadmap for your domain.
- Help shape identity solutions
- Contribute to CJ’s identity strategy and the solutions that resolve consumer signals into durable, privacy-compliant identity across devices and commerce surfaces.
- Shape CJ’s approach as browser privacy controls, consumer privacy regulation, and cross-device, cross-platform shopping journeys continue to evolve.
- Partner on assessments and research
- Work alongside product leadership on market assessments and discovery that shape where CJ invests next.
- Make the call
- Weigh tradeoffs and prioritize under real constraints (competing requests, limited capacity, imperfect data), and own the decisions that result.
- Partner closely with engineering
- Work day-to-day with a dedicated engineering team to ship, learn, and iterate, using Agile practices to deliver value in every release and feed client learnings back into the product.
- Define success and measure it
- Set clear success criteria and the metrics that prove whether a solution is working, and use what you learn to adjust course.
- Be the domain expert
- Serve as the go-to authority on your solutions for leadership, sales, marketing, and clients. Support complex deals, go-to-market planning, and technical documentation, and translate deep technical topics for non-technical audiences.
- Coordinate across the platform
- Manage dependencies with other product domains and engineering teams so scope stays accurate and timelines stay aligned.
Qualifications
- 3+ years in product management, ideally on technical or platform products such as data systems, measurement, identity, or APIs.
- A strong grasp of the ecommerce landscape, understanding how consumers shop, behave, and are tracked across different commerce surfaces.
- A track record of autonomous product decisions, framing ambiguous problems, weighing the tradeoffs, and choosing a direction.
- Technical fluency, understanding how web and mobile tracking works, and being comfortable with data pipelines, APIs, and architecture to partner with engineers.
- Strong discovery instincts, validating problems with real users and evidence before building, and distinguishing signal from noise.
- Analytical judgment, turning data and ambiguity into clear priorities and defending why one thing matters more than another.
- Excellent communication, taking complex technical topics to executives, clients, and sales, both in writing and conversation, and being understood.
- AI fluency, using AI tools throughout the product lifecycle (discovery, design, synthesis of feedback, and solution development).
- Comfort with distributed work, collaborating effectively with remote teams and individuals.
Nice to Have
- Background in performance marketing, ad tech, or commerce media.
- Familiarity with identity resolution, attribution, or privacy-enhancing technologies.
- Exposure to data architecture, data streaming, cloud-based architecture, or API development.
- SaaS or platform product experience.
- Hands-on Agile delivery experience, with tools like Atlassian JIRA.
