The Product Manager ensures initiatives are well-defined, properly tracked, and delivered in a way that supports Scripps' broader transformation goals, acting as the connective tissue between business stakeholders, creative teams, data, and software engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day management of your product's backlog in Atlassian (Jira), including writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritization.
  • Partner with engineering to plan sprints, track delivery progress, and unblock issues as they arise.
  • Support tracking of milestones and impact, escalating risks or hygiene issues proactively.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, validate assumptions, and ensure what gets built actually solves the intended problem.
  • Help identify interdependencies between your initiatives and other pods' work, flagging conflicts early.
  • Contribute to roadmap planning and sequencing discussions, bringing data and user insight to prioritization conversations.
  • Communicate progress and blockers clearly to your Product Lead and stakeholders.
  • Build low-fidelity prototypes and mockups (e.g., Figma, wireframes) to validate concepts with stakeholders before committing engineering resources.
  • Use prototypes to pressure-test assumptions and surface edge cases.
  • Identify opportunities within your pod's initiatives where AI or automation could improve speed, quality, or cost, and help scope them appropriately.
  • Identify systemic solutions to business problems.
  • Partner with the AI/architecture team to understand platform capabilities (e.g., Azure AI Foundry, Copilot Studio) and translate them into practical product use cases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; or equivalent work experience.
  • Generally, 3+ years of digital and product management experience or related field.

Skills

  • Experience in product management, software development, data engineering, or technical project coordination.
  • The ability to explain a technical tradeoff to a non-technical stakeholder and vice versa.
  • Basic familiarity with agile/scrum practices and tools like Jira or similar work-management platforms.
  • Experience with data analysis and interpreting performance metrics.
  • Comfortable working across disciplines including engineering, UX, and marketing.
