Product Management Director - Deposits

About the Role
As a dedicated Product Management Director, you will formulate product, pricing, and sales strategy recommendations based on analysis of profitability, competitiveness, and sales performance for a portfolio of bank products across their full lifecycle. You will be accountable for analyzing market trends and product performance to drive sustainable growth, profitability, member value, and regulatory compliance. You will define business questions, provide insights to improve performance, and execute the vision, strategy, and product roadmap. You will support the maintenance of existing products and lead the development and launch of new products.
Responsibilities
- Drive and evolve the product vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for USAA’s ‘Safety Net’ overdraft service, overdraft protection (ODP) feature, and other Deposit fees aligned to Bank priorities and member needs.
- Interpret performance results to inform product or sales forecast and planning.
- Lead overdraft and fee innovation while ensuring alignment with business objectives, risk appetite, and regulatory expectations.
- Develop recommendations to launch new products and evaluate decisions to buy, build, or partner.
- Act as product subject matter expert (SME) on features and services, collaborating with business partners to provide recommendations.
- Analyze and evaluate product performance metrics to form recommendations regarding market opportunities and product enhancements; lead efforts to expand or change existing product features.
- Partner with Marketing to define go-to-market and value proposition strategy for the product/feature.
- Provide support regarding all aspects of the overdraft and fee lifecycle.
- Approve and support the development, editing, and distribution of product communications.
- Coordinate with relevant control partners (including Legal, Compliance, Credit Risk, and Risk Management) to ensure product offerings are designed, implemented, and managed in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or Statistics; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
- 6+ years of relevant industry experience in Consumer or Retail Banking, Marketing, Banking Sales and Service, Finance/Accounting, or Operations.
- 3+ years of Deposit product management, Deposit Fee / Revenue Management, or similar strategic management experience (similar experience includes direct support in managing product or service performance).
- Advanced analytical skills, with an interest and ability to monitor and routinely report on performance trends gleaned from data.
- Experience telling stories leveraging data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Excel graphs, and PowerPoint summaries), with an ability to use AI to enhance outcomes.
- Experience creating product briefings and presenting to executive leadership.
- Comfort in forming an opinion and defending it in the face of challenge or pushback.
- Experience setting annual performance plans for a product or service and updating those during quarterly or more frequent forecasting windows.
- Confidence to acknowledge when performance has deviated from expectations and willingness to adjust plans accordingly.
- Ability to work closely with partners from finance, operations, credit risk, marketing, digital, and other areas to collaborate on performance and enhancements to the program.
- Experience in market research to create product roadmaps, make product decisions, and iterate rapidly.
- Knowledge of applicable Banking-industry laws, regulations, risk, and compliance requirements, specifically UDAAP, Reg E, and others applying to overdraft/ODP and other deposit fees.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $143,320 - $273,930. USAA does not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
