Product Intern
Duration: 4 months (part-time) – mentored learning experience for students / early-career candidates. Academic credit supported where applicable through your university.
About The Role
Building a product starts long before designing another screen or shipping another feature. It starts with understanding people. As a Product Intern at Day0 Labs, you’ll learn how we research users, conduct focus groups, test products, make sense of feedback, identify patterns, and translate those insights into product thinking. You’ll get exposure to the process behind products such as CreatorBAE and UnfoldWin, along with selected early Day0 Labs experiments when appropriate. This role is not primarily a prototyping, UI design, or software development internship. The focus is understanding how products are researched, validated, launched, studied, and improved.
What you’ll learn
- User research
Learn how we approach questions such as:
- Who are we building for?
- What problem are they experiencing?
- How do they solve it today?
- What happens when they use our product?
- Where do they struggle?
- What are we assuming?
You’ll learn how teams prepare research questions, observe users, document findings, and distinguish assumptions from evidence.
- Focus groups
Learn how structured product focus groups work. You’ll gain exposure to:
- defining research objectives
- participant coordination
- discussion guides
- facilitation
- observation
- note-taking
- feedback organization
- post-session synthesis
- Product testing
Observe how early products are introduced to real people. Learn to pay attention not only to what participants say, but also to:
- what they do
- where they hesitate
- what they misunderstand
- what they ignore
- what surprises them
- Insight analysis
Learn how messy feedback becomes something useful. You’ll practice identifying:
- Themes
- Patterns
- Pain points
- Motivations
- Questions
- Contradictions
- Opportunities
- Research synthesis
Learn how qualitative data can be grouped and translated using techniques such as:
- affinity mapping
- thematic grouping
- observation clustering
- research summaries
- opportunity identification
- Personas
Learn how research can inform meaningful user personas. You’ll also learn why personas should come from evidence rather than assumptions about users.
- User journeys
Explore what happens before, during, and after someone interacts with a product. For example:
Discover→Understand→Try→Use→Complete→Return
You’ll learn to identify friction and opportunities across the experience.
- Product decisions
Observe how research can influence:
- Product priorities
- User experience
- Messaging
- Launch decisions
- Future experiments
The purpose is to understand how evidence becomes a product decision.
- Product launch learning
Learn how product research continues after something launches. Focus groups, early adopters, beta testing, product events, feedback, and behavioral observations can all help teams understand what should happen next.
What you’ll participate in
Depending on current Day0 Labs work, you may:
- help prepare focus group sessions
- participate in research planning discussions
- observe user interviews
- participate in product testing sessions
- take structured research notes
- organize observations
- synthesize user feedback
- participate in affinity mapping
- identify recurring themes
- practice creating research-backed personas
- map user journeys
- compare feedback across different users
- participate in product retrospectives
- study emerging user behaviors
- research creator economy trends
- research potential CreatorBAE Shop categories
- analyze customer experiences
- study e-commerce workflows
- understand inventory and fulfillment journeys
- document product operations
- share research insights with the team
The role is not designed around independently creating production features or replacing a full-time product, research, design, or operations employee.
Learn across digital and physical products
CreatorBAE provides an interesting environment because the ecosystem includes both digital experiences and physical products.
- CreatorBAE platform
You may study journeys such as:
Discover campaign→Apply→Collaborate→Submit→Complete
This helps you understand how different user types move through a marketplace product.
- CreatorBAE Shop
You may also learn how an e-commerce product works beyond its website:
Discover→Purchase→Inventory→Packing→Shipping→Delivery→Returns
This can include exposure to:
- Inventory systems
- E-commerce workflows
- Fulfillment processes
- Shipping journeys
- Customer experience
- Returns
- Marketplace trends
- Product-category research
The emphasis is understanding and analyzing these systems rather than making routine fulfillment the primary responsibility of the internship.
What you’ll leave with
By the end of the internship, you should have a stronger foundation in:
- User research
- Focus groups
- Product testing
- Insight analysis
- Research synthesis
- Personas
- Journey mapping
- Product operations
- Early-stage product development
Most importantly, you’ll learn how to take unstructured feedback from real people and turn it into information a product team can use.
