About the role
JotPsych builds software for behavioral health clinicians, expanding from note‑taking into billing, scheduling, e‑prescribing, and more. As a Product Engineer Intern for summer 2027, you will take rough product ideas and ship them end‑to‑end—UI, backend, database, and prompts—turning messy clinic workflows into smooth, intuitive software. You will write production code, review PRs, and ship features used by real clinicians, with a mentor, a clear project scope from day one, and weekly 1:1 check‑ins.
Responsibilities
- Feature delivery: take a scoped feature from concept through PR and into production.
- Product iteration: partner with engineers, designers, and clinicians to ship user‑facing improvements.
- Integration: connect frontend UI to backend services, including APIs, async jobs, and realtime updates.
- Internal tooling: build small tools that help the team and clinics operate faster (admin views, QA utilities, evaluation helpers).
- Engineering fundamentals: write tests, debug, and perform thoughtful refactors to improve the codebase.
What you’ll learn
- How a real product team ships features every week.
- How to reason about trade‑offs such as UX vs. reliability and scope vs. time.
- How modern AI‑powered product experiences work end‑to‑end (no prior LLM expertise required).
Who you probably are
- A junior or senior in CS or a related discipline, graduating in 2027 or 2028.
- Available to work 40 hours a week in person at the Brooklyn Navy Yard for summer 2027.
- Have shipped real software outside of class (personal projects, hackathons, research, internships).
- Write code in at least one modern language (TypeScript, JavaScript, Python) and are eager to learn the others.
- Ask good questions and turn rough ideas into working software.
Nice to have
- Experience with React, TypeScript, Python, or SQL.
- Familiarity with any cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) or basic DevOps concepts.
- Interest in healthcare, AI, language models, or security.
