Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Factory Support (sustaining) Product Engineer to support the lifecycle of our existing products and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve product related issues identified in production, testing, or in the field for legacy products.
- Manage engineering change orders (ECOs) and documentation updates for existing products.
- Collaborate with quality, manufacturing, and customer support teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Provide technical support for supply chain issues including component obsolescence and sourcing alternatives.
- Analyze field returns, warranty claims, and customer feedback to drive continuous product improvements.
- Participate in product audits, failure analysis, and reliability assessments.
- Support cost-reduction initiatives, regulatory compliance updates, and product refresh projects.
- Maintain and improve documentation such as CAD drawings, schematics, BOMs, and technical specifications.
- Analyze designs and drive changes or modifications.
- Execute approved drawing updates and changes as communicated through our redline/deviation process.
- Independently research solutions, troubleshoot and resolve complex problems by analyzing product data and production processes.
- Support NPI (New Product Introduction) to ensure new products comply with DFMA standards and factory standards.
- Champion shop floor improvement projects such as fixture builds, cart design, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial).
- 2–5 years of experience in sustaining, design, manufacturing, or product support engineering.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis (e.g., 8D, FMEA, 5 Whys).
- Proficiency in engineering tools (e.g., CAD, PLM systems, testing equipment, version control).
- Autodesk Inventor experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, DMAIC).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of GD&T, SPC, or FMEA.
- Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience designing / supporting material handling product a strong plus.
