Product Development Support Engineer
About the role
The Electrical Test Engineer develops test plans, executes the same to ensure that they meet product specifications, industry standards and codes. Create, test and perform the building of electrical equipment such as battery chargers with sophisticated control systems and algorithms, data logging systems and cloud platform to manage chargers and data loggers. This includes prototyping new designs as well as testing design changes to existing product line. Support of the drawings, produce Bill of Material and data sheets. Responsible for effective interdepartmental communication and adherence to procedures. Collaborate and work with a variety of colleagues across project teams to make sure quality devices are delivered on time and within budget. Look for new ways to make our products reliable while improving performance. Review our product portfolio, applications and identify improvements and reliability of our products.
Responsibilities
- Create, test and perform the building of electrical equipment such as battery chargers with sophisticated control systems and algorithms, data logging systems and cloud platform to manage chargers and data loggers.
- Support of the drawings, produce Bill of Material and data sheets.
- Responsible for effective interdepartmental communication and adherence to procedures.
- Collaborate and work with a variety of colleagues across project teams to make sure quality devices are delivered on time and within budget.
- Look for new ways to make our products reliable while improving performance.
- Review our product portfolio, applications and identify improvements and reliability of our products.
- Participate in developing project plans, test plans, and writing test reports; assist with creating, maintaining, and revising product project plans and effectively communicate project deadlines.
- Devise testing methods and develop test cases to confirm the functionality of electrical components and systems.
- Create product documentation: solid modeling of components and assemblies, technical drawings, BOM’s, etc.
- Create and maintain wiring schematics and board layouts for new R&D as well as legacy product.
- Ensure products are in compliance with applicable standards such as UL, CE etc.
- Apply internal project management strategies and adhere to deadlines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar field is preferred
- 4+ years of experience industrial charging or control systems
- Product design life cycle experience
- Electrical controls, Embedded systems and CAN Bus protocol
- Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, and policies.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar field
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in industrial charging or control systems
- Knowledge: Product design life cycle experience, Electrical controls, Embedded systems and CAN Bus protocol
- Skills: Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, and policies
